Drones Raising Concerns
Drones are flying up high everywhere but that’s not all the is flying around. With drones becoming a new hobby for many there is a lot of concerns people are having. In the article “As drone popularity rises, so do concerns”, by Christopher Maag, this concerns are outlined with some opinion on them. The popularity of drones has increased to the point where now the popularity is booming.” Just five years ago, drones available to consumers simply didn’t exist, said Mike Blades, an aerospace and defenseindustry analyst for Frost & Sullivan, a marketresearch firm. Since then, growth has exploded”(Magg par 8). In addition accessibility had increase where you you can pick up a drone at a local radio shack and the prices range goes all the way down to just 60 dollar. Drone quality is going up all the time. The cameras are becoming lighter and smaller but with more power. Furthermore, with anyone able to fly a drone some communities and businesses are getting worried; they are afraid anyone could fly right up to someone’s window and spying on them or airports are extremely worry that a drone could hit them and bring the plane down. “a drone flying at 4,000 feet in the middle of La Guardia’s airspace “almost hit” a passenger plane with 65 seats, the FAA reported” (Magg par 22). Consequently, there is a need for laws to prevent the safety and privacy hazard like how airports are not allowing in flying craft in so many feet close to in airfield. However, there are some people that think this concern is overblown even saying a pair of binoculars would be better to spy with. In conclusion, the popularity and accessibility of drones are on the rise and with this, even though some activist disagree, many concerns also rise up that needs prevention.
